FDA: Salmonella outbreak linked to North Brunswick business
The Food and Drug Administration has linked a Salmonella outbreak to a New Jersey food business.
FDA officials say that North Brunswick-based Tailor Cut Produce had to recall its Fruit Luau mix because the product has the potential to be contaminated with salmonella. The mix contains cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple and grapes.
Officials say that the recalled products were distributed in Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania between Nov. 15 and Dec. 1, 2019. The recall was put into place on Dec. 7.
According to the FDA, Tailor Cut Product products are not sold in stores, but are instead found in restaurants, banquet facilities, hotels, schools and long-term care facilities.
“Because the recalled products may have been distributed to…facilities that cater to vulnerable populations, it is important that these facilities do not sell or serve them,” the FDA said in a statement.
FDA officials say that 27 people around the country have been hospitalized due to the outbreak, but no deaths have been reported.
