Family and friends of a slain 13-year-old gathered to say a final goodbye Friday evening.
Grievers gathered for a wake at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Newark to remember Elijah Henderson. The boy was killed Monday after being struck by a bullet while riding his bicycle.
Henderson?s mother will no longer speak with the press due to media reports that parental neglect could have played a part in the boy?s death. Family members said they?re upset the killer is still at large, however.
?The word of God says vengeance is mine,? said Rebecca Gowens, the boy?s aunt. ?Somehow the Lord is gonna pay us what we're due. God's got this thing in His hand.?
Funeral services for Henderson will be held Saturday.
