A falling tree injured a woman who was walking her dog in Morris Township on Monday morning.
Gusty winds are believed to have caused the tree to fall on Fairmount Avenue sometime between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., striking the 33-year-old woman. Police say that the woman was taken to the hospital, but the extent of her injuries was not immediately known.
Wind gusts reached up to 50 mph in some areas of the state on Monday, and the National Weather Service issued a strong wind advisory.
Heavy rain around the state for the past few days has made the ground soft. Combined with the strong winds, trees have been falling around the state causing power outages.
Utility crews have been out around New Jersey making repairs to help restore power.
