With Thursday marking the unofficial start of Memorial Day weekend, New Jersey residents can expect to see an increase in traffic on the roadways.
According to AAA, more travelers will be on New Jersey roadways than any time in the last 12 years, and nationally, gas will be at its highest Memorial Day prices since 2015.
AAA projects that 977,000 New Jersey residents will travel more than 50 miles this weekend. Overall, an estimated 39.3 million Americans will travel the same distance. AAA said that is one million more travelers than last year taking to the roads, skies, rails and water, creating the highest Memorial Day travel volume since 2005.
For those flying, travelers may notice changes at TSA security. The administration is testing enhanced screening of electronics at 10 airports. Anything larger than a cell phone will need to be X-rayed in a separate bin.
