Police say the 30-year-old was shot multiple times while sitting in her SUV outside of her home at the Camelot at La Mer complex.
Investigators have still not released any details about any suspects or what the motive could have been.
Emotions ran high at Dwumfour's vigil Wednesday night as many in the community are still coming to grips with the violence of the shooting.
"Quite frankly, it's been very challenging, very challenging, very unsettling,” said Sayreville Council President Christian Onuoha.
"Trust me, I travel from one end of this state to another. Everyone is grieving and mourning for this loss,” said Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver.
At the memorial, Oliver also said rather than focus on politics, the community should try to lift up Dwumfour's daughter and family.
In her first media interview since the murder, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
She also says the case is her office's number one priority, but she prefers not to hold press conferences or interviews to deliver updates.
“You caught me at this event, but as a rule, I do not do press conferences, I feel that it is more respectful to the people involved to do a press release which we did do. Isn't it respectful to solve the case? We will solve the case,” said Ciccone.
News 12 is told the FBI is assisting the prosecutor's office and state police.
