A Union City woman says she is sorry after losing her cool on U.S. Airways Flight 1697's flight from North Carolina to Florida.
Peggy Albedhady-Sanchez, 50 is accused of attacking the flight crew, a federal offense. Albedhady-Sanchez spoke exclusively to News 12 New Jersey regarding the incident.
Albedhady-Sanchez says the flight was getting bumpy and that she became nervous and scared. Albedhady-Sanchez says she already had one alcoholic drink, an Absolut and cranberry juice, and asked for another.
Albedhady-Sanchez says that the flight attendant refused to serve her and that she grabbed the flight attendant's hand because she was shaking. She also says she started to "freak out."
She now faces charges of battery and interfering with a flight crew. Albedhady-Sanchez says she became panicked, and, the next thing she knew, she was in jail.
Members of the flight crew say Albedhady-Sanchez was cursing, spitting, kicking and screaming. A male flight attendant said he was kicked in the groin, and an off-duty sheriff's officer who was on the flight had to restrain her in the rear galley until the plane landed.
Albedhady-Sanchez says she's never been in trouble with the law before and is mortified. She also says she's been struggling with depression since suffering a brain aneurism, the recent death of her mother and the collapse of her marriage.
