A former college football star who was severely injured during a game got a chance to meet the doctors who helped treat him.
Former Rutgers player Eric LeGrand visited his doctors at Hackensack University Medical Center Monday. LeGrand was paralyzed after an injury he suffered during a game in 2010.
He has since regained movement in his shoulders and sensation throughout his body, and says that he owes it all to his doctors and nurses.
“They took care of me. What they did for me. All the behind-the-scenes stuff, coming to my room and having conversations when I was terrified at night by myself. They'll always be a part of my family and I'll never forget them,” LeGrand says.
The former defensive tackle says that he is determined to walk again someday.
LeGrand was honored in New Jersey's Hall of Fame with the Unsung Hero Award in 2012.
