Superstorm Sandy made landfall in New Jersey eight years ago today.
The storm caused nearly $30 billion in damages to the state. Nearly 40 people lost their lives as a result of the storm, and around 50,000 people were forced out of their homes.
State lawmakers have now signed a resolution designating today "Superstorm Sandy Remembrance Day."
