Some Edison residents say no matter what turn the economy takes, garage sales remain a popular alternative to buying full-price items at the mall.

Daphne Taratun, a garage sale enthusiast from Edison, says the sales are great ways to make money and to find good deals. One piece of advice she shares is to be open to accepting less money than you list for some items.

?They tend to price too high,? Taratun says. ?If they really want to sell what they have, they should just let it go at whatever price the person can afford because the main thing is to help other people out and to get rid of it yourself."
