Essex County police have arrested the friend of a woman found stabbed to death in East Orange Friday.

Law enforcement officials say 38-year-old Bobbie Harris was found inside an apartment at 492 Park Ave. Officials say she was killed as a result of knife wounds to the neck.

Officials at the Essex County Prosecutor's Office have charged Terrance Brooks, 37, in the woman's murder. He is also facing weapons charges.

A neighbor says she may have heard the altercation while watching television.

"To my knowledge, it happened in the hallways, in front of a tenant's door," said the female neighbor, who didn't want to be identified. "I heard some loud noises. It was like bumping against the wall, like somebody fighting."

Prosecutors are not yet releasing further information on the slaying. Brooks is being held on $400,000 bond.
