Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two people who assaulted and robbed a 73-year-old man Wednesday afternoon in Melrose.

Police say the duo approached the victim at the crossroads of East 149th Street and Wales Avenue.

They threw him to the ground, hit him repeatedly and then snatched his necklace.

Before fleeing the scene on foot, the other suspect also took his cellphone.
