After a beautiful fall day today, the weather across Nassau and Suffolk Counties will be changing. You will notice more clouds on Tuesday with a passing shower chance and it will be a bit breezier. Expect similar weather on Wednesday.
Thursday, especially in the afternoon and evening, is going to be rough for travel.
One to two inches of rain with locally higher amounts will combine with 30 to 50 mph wind gusts to make for a terrible and potentially dangerous weather day. There will also be a coastal flooding risk around and during high tide.
Halloween will dry out, but it will still be quite windy. The weekend looks decent, though!
TROPICS: Hurricane Melissa is bringing life-threatening, catastrophic impacts to Jamaica, with an expected landfall early tomorrow morning. Jamaica has never seen a landfalling category five hurricane. The last landfalling hurricane in Jamaica was Hurricane Gilbert in 1988 and it was a category three storm. PLEASE NOTE: Thursday's storm for Long Island is separate from Hurricane Melissa, but some tropical moisture can be pulled north and cause our local storm to have some tropical-like downpours.
You can see more of the extended forecast below and in the video above. Have a great night and be sure to check back frequently with News 12 for updates to the STORM WATCH forecast for Thursday.
