A driver involved in a crash that injured seven people near the campus of The College of New Jersey was driving while impaired, according to the Ewing Police Department.
Ewing police charged 22-year-old David Lamar with seven counts of assault by auto following the Sunday crash.
Police say that Lamar was driving a 2018 Kia Optima on Pennington Road just after 2 a.m. when he crossed over the double yellow lines and struck a 2007 Dodge Charger. Police say that there were six people inside the Charger at the time of the crash. First responders found multiple people trapped inside the cars when they arrived, according to officials.
Six of the seven people hurt were critical injured, and police say that three of those people remain in critical condition. Police did not identify the patients, but say that they are men aged 19, 20 and 21. Two 21-year-old women and a 22-year-old man remain hospitalized in stable condition, according to officials.
Five of the people involved in the crash are students at TCNJ
Anyone who may have any information about the crash should contact Ewing police officers David Massi or Paul Digristina at 609-882-1313 or the Tip Line at 609-882-7530.
