A recent overnight operation targeting drag racing in Newark netted 18 motor vehicles stops and 52 summonses in the industrial streets of the city's East Ward.
The drag racing crackdown is part of the greater anti-crime initiative in Newark.
Police Director Anthony Ambrose hopes the streets in the East Ward will remain free of drag racers.
He says it's clear the majority of street racers hitting the streets of Newark are coming from outside the city.
He's urging anyone who sees such activity to report it.
