One area in Riverdale has gotten a bit safer for pedestrians, thanks to a group of Bronx politicians.
In response to a push from local legislators, the DOT agreed to install additional safety signs for northbound traffic on West 236th Street near Riverdale Avenue.
Some people believe the high-traffic area is dangerous because the road winds around a sharp corner.
While there is already a sign posted in the area that calls for drivers to watch out for pedestrians, some say the sign is hard to see.
The new signs are meant to improve pedestrian visibility for drivers and make the intersection safer for people crossing the street.
The DOT says the signs will be in place before Nov. 30.
