Dollar General is the latest store to set aside special hours for the elderly and those who are at high risk of contracting coronavirus during the global pandemic.
Dollar General announced that the first hour of operations will be set aside for these types of people, so that they can get the items and supplies that they need with limited risk of contracting the potentially deadly virus. Dollar General will also close an hour early so that the shops can be thoroughly cleaned and restocked.
Stop & Shop also announced that on Thursday, the supermarket will open from 6 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. for those who are 60 years old and older.
Shoppers told News 12 that they were grateful to these stores for having these special hours so that they can buy their items in a lower-risk environment.
In addition to having different hours, other shops are also setting a limit on how many items a person may purchase. Items like toilet paper, paper towels and disinfectant wipes have been flying off store shelves since the virus came to the United States.
ShopRite announced that it put a limit on certain necessities such as paper products, soaps and hand sanitizers, cold and flu medicine, bottled water and certain meats like chicken and ground beef.
