A strike by the International Longshoremen Association (ILA) has entered its third day, halting operations at the Ports America Terminal in Port Newark.
News 12’s Chris Keating reports that ILA members rejected a 50% wage increase offer over six years, seeking more after shipping companies reported record profits.
ILA Vice President Dennis Daggett vowed to continue the fight, saying, "When we are together, it's impossible to fail. We are going to be on the right side of history."
The U.S. Maritime Alliance expressed willingness to negotiate, stating, "We remain committed to bargaining in good faith to address the ILA's demands and USMX's concerns."
