Two New Jersey colleges are dealing with the aftermath of a cyberattack that interrupted Internet service. 

Rutgers University is working to get its computer network fully running while Fairleigh Dickinson University has its computer networks up and running again. 

Rutgers University officials say an attack began on Friday. The Internet was slow and sometimes not available at all on campus during the weekend.

A university spokesman says the system is now working on campus, but that university servers were not available Monday morning to off-campus users.

Spokesman E.J. Miranda says there is no evidence that any confidential information was compromised.

Fairleigh Dickinson's security team saw that an attack was underway and voluntarily shut down their Web services to protect the network. As a result of this, no sensitive data was affected. The data security team worked around the clock to identify the cause of the attack and restore the network. 

The university will be investing in network upgrades to enhance security.

Local police, along with the FBI, are investigating who is responsible for the attacks.
