A water main break in Jersey City left dozens of residents without service during the dangerous heat.
The break happened on Tuesday morning on Duncan Avenue near Mallory Avenue. Veolia Water says the repairs required crews to shut off water to the area for a time.
About 40 customers were affected, including Justin Ridings, who’s made sure his three dogs stayed cool and hydrated while waiting for the water to return.
"Just trying to get out as early as possible, get them walking before their paws get hot on the ground, stay in the shade as much as possible," he said. "If I'm sweating, they are going to be in the same kind of boat," says Ridings
Jorge Ortega, another resident, said crews were on the block just two weeks ago.
"There was like a big bulge in the asphalt of where it looked like it was about to blow," he said. "My in-laws live down the block, so I'm going to probably check over there and take a shower and stuff over there."
Veolia said that all repairs are complete, and service was restored around 3 p.m.
