(09/07/06) NEWARK ? Governor Jon Corzine (D-NJ) unveiled Thursday a statewide plan that aims to reenergize a sagging New Jersey economy.
In an hour-long speech, the governor presented several aspects of the strategy, which focuses on making over New Jersey?s public image. Corzine says staying positive about the state will help convince people they want to be there. The plan also emphasizes developing a homegrown workforce from New Jersey?s public universities and fusing the public and private sectors to promote urban development. Nurturing new technologies and small businesses is highlighted in the economic growth plan as well.
With economic development at the top of his administration?s agenda, Corzine says new jobs from the stronger economy will ultimately lead to improving residents? quality of life.
