Gov. Jon Corzine was released from the hospital Monday, more than two weeks after a car accident left him in critical condition.
?I?m a blessed human being. I could not be more grateful for the support I?ve had, from the state, my family and the people who rescued me,? Corzine said outside the hospital.
Corzine was seriously injured in the April 12 crash on the Garden State Parkway in Atlantic County. He fractured his left thigh and broke 11 ribs, his breastbone and other bones.
The governor acknowledged that he wasn't wearing a seat belt, saying he set a bad example for young people.
Corzine is now recuperating at the governor?s mansion in Princeton. Workers installed special rehabilitation equipment and will heat the swimming pool as part of Corzine?s ongoing therapy. His recovery could take several months, but Corzine is expected to get back to work much sooner.
