A 56-year-old husband and father from Little Silver was killed in a three-car collision in Tinton Falls Wednesday.
Police say Vincent DiMicelli was killed after a 17-year-old driver lost control of his car and crossed into oncoming traffic. The crash is still under investigation, but early police reports point to excessive speed as a factor.
No charges have yet been filed against the teenager, whose name is being held because of his age.
DiMicelli taught English at Colts Neck High School. His widow says he would have wanted compassion shown to the young driver.
"That's the kind of man he was,? says Deborah DiMicelli. ?Strong and compassionate and forgiving, and I think that's what he would do ... forgive."
A Lincroft mother and her two young children were in the third car involved in the accident. Authorities say the woman broke her arm in the crash, but the children were unscathed.
