A Lodi man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a woman and then punching a police officer in the face.
Lodi police say Michael Stellato broke into the woman's Union Street apartment and waited for her to come home. When she came into the apartment, she saw him sitting on her couch, allegedly holding a knife in a "threatening manner."
The two argued and when the woman tried to get out of the apartment, police say Stellato threw the knife at her. He then followed her outside while she called police.
When police arrived, Stellato allegedly started walking toward them with his hands in his pockets and refused to take them out.
A struggle ensued once police spotted Stellato's knife and that's when Stellato allegedly punched the officer.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, burglary and possession of a weapon, among other charges. His bail was set at $50,000.
His relationship with the woman he allegedly assaulted was not released.
