A Camden County hair salon is hoping to help the thousands of victims of the winter storms in Texas by collecting donations from the community.
It's a team effort at Mora Salon in Cherry Hill as bag after bag is sorted through to help victims in Texas.
"All of the stuff that I saw on social media and how many people are suffering and I just felt like I had to step up," says Wanda Mora, owner of Mora Salon.
Donations have been pouring into the salon from people in the community.
"We have a little bit of everything," says Mora. "We have water, canned goods, baby formula, hats, scarves, socks, coats, blankets, pillows and a lot of space heaters."
Kristie DePietro, of Delanco, dropped of donations that were collected at her daughter's school.
"We collected blankets, lots of blankets, pillows, we did socks, scarves a lot of other items too," says DePietro.
Mora says she wanted to help the people of Texas because she knows how much devestation can be caused by storms.
"I have experience with Hurricane Maria," says Mora. "I lost my father to the hurricane and we did a huge hurricane relief drive and it went really well and so I saw what was happening in Texas and I felt like I could use my platform to help."
The team will finish sorting and boxing up everything Monday and then it will be loaded onto a truck that's heading to Texas Tuesday. The items will be sent to shelters that had reached out for help.
