Caught on camera: Suspect points handgun at gas station attendant, demands money

Police have arrested a suspect that was caught on camera during an armed robbery at a gas station in Bloomfield.

Police have arrested a suspect that was caught on camera during an armed robbery at a gas station in Bloomfield.
According to police, the suspect, later identified as Mickens Meranville, 18, of East Orange, is seen entering the Sunoco station at 72 Bloomfield Ave. on Oct. 30.
In the video, the suspect can be seen pointing a handgun at an attendant and demanding money.
Police say the worker gave him nearly $1,600, and the suspect took off.
Officers responded to the area and were able to locate a person matching the description on Abington Avenue, near North 11th Street, in Newark.
Once the person was stopped, officers located a white plastic Sunoco bag with the money inside. Officers also located a black handgun, which had been tossed behind bushes in the area of Abington Avenue and N. 13th Street.
Meranville was arrested and charged with robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon, among other charges.
