A Camden police officer was shot in the arm on Tuesday night, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officials say police were trying to conduct a pedestrian stop near North Chesapeake and Congress roads when a man pulled out a gun and shot the officer. That officer was struck in his left arm.

Officials say a sergeant fired back and shot the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Marques Jones.

Authorities say Jones is now listed in critical condition. He was charged with attempted murder.
