Law enforcement officials in Camden are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction after an 8-year-old girl was shot in the head by a stray bullet.
The girl, who was not identified, is in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital.
Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson says the gunfire broke out around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when several men opened fire on an intended target. He says the girl was across the street from her house when she was caught in the crossfire.
Authorities say the shooters jumped in a car and fled the scene at a high rate of speed following the shooting. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from the area.
Thomson says police are asking for anyone with information on the shooting to come forward.
No arrests have been made.
Anyone who might have information about the shooting is asked to call Camden County police at 856-757-7042.
