NJ Transit rail service resumes on Northeast Corridor between Trenton and Rahway following overhead wire issues
2ds agoService on New Jersey Transit’s Northeast Corridor has resumed in both directions between New York Penn Station and Trenton with delays of up to 60 minutes.
The issue comes after a series of brush fires around the state. Fires were reported in Edison, Metuchen and New Brunswick.
Westbound service will bypass Metuchen, Edison and New Brunswick, according to NJ Transit.
A Conrail spokesperson tells News 12 New Jersey that the fires are believed to have been started due to hot carbon sparks coming from a construction and demolition debris train that left Metuchen on its way to New Brunswick.
Amtrak services were also impacted.
Travelers are urged to check the NJ Transit and Amtrak websites and apps to find out the status of their trains.
