Bronx-raised rapper Cardi B will take the stage as the host of the 2021 American Music Awards later this month, organizers announced Tuesday.
The Nov. 21 event at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles will be the rapper's hosting debut.
"When I received the invite to host the AMAs, I was so excited," Cardi B says. "I'm ready to bring my personality to the AMAs stage! Thank you to Jesse Collins, ABC and MRC for making this happen."
While it may be her first time hosting the awards show, she is no stranger to the AMAs. She is a five-time AMA winner and made history last year as the first female rapper to win "Favorite Hip-Hop" song twice. She also performed "I Like It" in 2018 with J Balvin and Bad Bunny.
"We are immensely excited to have the dynamic Cardi B bring her infectious energy to the American Music Awards as a first-time host," says Executive Producer Jesse Collins. "She will excite the viewers, push the limits and deliver a show that will be remembered forever."
The AMAs will air globally in over 120 countries and territories, and is the world's largest fan-voted awards show.
Voting is now open for this year, and for the first time, fans can vote for all AMA categories, once per category per day, on TikTok by searching in-app for "AMAs."
Nominees are based on key fan interactions as reflected by the Billboard charts, including streaming, album sales, song sales, and radio airplay, according to organizers. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partner MRC Data, and cover the time period September 25, 2020, through September 23, 2021. The AMA winners are voted entirely by fans.
Cardi B rose to fame in 2018 with the release of her debut studio album, "Invasion of Privacy." She was the first woman to have five simultaneous Top 10 hits on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Song Charts, and the first female rapper with five Billboard Hot 100 #1s.
The show is produced by MRC Live & Alternative and Jesse Collins Entertainment, and will air on ABC on Nov. 21 at 8 p.m.
