Faulty airplane equipment prompted a large emergency services response at John F. Kennedy International Airport Tuesday evening.
Police and emergency crews surrounded a JetBlue flight on the tarmac after the pilots stopped responding to the control tower.
JetBlue flight 1623 was preparing to take off for Los Angeles when it “experienced a radio equipment problem while taxiing,” according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Police surrounded the aircraft when the pilot would not responded in case there was a potential threat onboard.
The FAA will investigate what caused the radio to malfunction.
