News 12 obtained body cam footage from Thursday's fire in Ewing, which claimed the life of a 6-year-old boy and hospitalized others.

Ewing Police responded to the Cambridge Hall Apartments located on Lower Ferry Road around 3 p.m. ahead of firefighters.

In the body cam footage, officers can be seen sprinting into the building.

Once they enter, they begin guiding people out of their homes to escape smoke and flames.

The fire originated on the fourth floor where 6-year-old Jayden Gotell-Watkins, of New York, was visiting relatives.

He was carried out of the building unresponsive and taken to Capital Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Eleven police officers, three other residents and one firefighter were hospitalized for injuries ranging from smoke inhalation, exhaustion and minor burns.

Authorities say the cause of the fire was accidental.
