The Coast Guard says it went to the aid of a vessel taking on water off the the coast of Sea Bright.
Petty Officer Steve Strohmaier tells NJ.com two people were aboard the 20-foot boat when it put out a distress call Sunday afternoon about three miles off Sea Bright.
Strohmaier says a Coast Guard vessel from Sandy Hook and a New York City fire department vessel arrived to help drain the boat.
He says the engines wouldn't start after the water was drained, so the Coast Guard vessel was towing the boat back to New Jersey.
No injuries were reported.
AP wire services helped contribute to this report.
