There is a new sheriff in Nassau County.
County Executive Bruce Blakeman announced multiple promotions in Nassau's Sheriff Department on Thursday.
Anthony LaRocca is taking on the role of acting sheriff after James Dzurenda resigned from office.
The Nassau executive says LaRocca dedicated over a quarter century of service to the county.
"He carries out his duties in the highest manner of integrity and he is someone that leads by example, and he is willing to roll up his sleeves and make sure that everything that we do here in Nassau County is to the highest professional standards," Blakeman says.
Denis Monette and Tom Sullivan were also sworn in Thursday as Nassau County's new undersheriffs.
