The reigning Miss New Jersey held back tears at a news conference Thursday as she opened up about the blackmail troubles surrounding her crown.
Amy Polumbo, of Howell, said someone is trying to use personal photos she posted on a Web site to have her stripped of her crown. Polumbo received the photos by mail along with a letter that stated if she didn't resign, the photos would be made public. Polumbo's pageant coach said the photos are not bad, but with the captions the blackmailer attached, they could be viewed differently.
"Being crowned Miss New Jersey is a dream come true, but that dream has turned into a nightmare," Polumbo said. She also told reporters she does not intend to resign and let the blackmailer prevail.
Polumbo's lawyer has launched an investigation into the matter.
