A state Senate committee held a hearing today on legislation that would force teenagers stay in school until they're 18.
Under the current law, students between 6 and 16 are required to regularly attend school.
Many states have sought to raise the age limit in recent years to reduce the dropout rate.
New Jersey has one of the highest graduation rates in the country, with about 87 percent of high school students receiving diplomas.
