Although Hurricane Bill is far out at sea, the storm's high winds could create dangerous waves on the Jersey Shore.
The National Weather Service says Bill will produce large swells at the shore as it moves off the coast. Yellow flags were put up Friday afternoon at local beaches, warning swimmers to use caution. Throughout the weekend, there could be 6- to 12-foot swells.
Lifeguards say swimmers shouldn't swim after hours or outside protected areas. In addition, lifeguards expect swimming bans to go into effect throughout the weekend.
