Law enforcement authorities are expecting an unprecedented turnout this week for Newark's safe surrender program.
Thousands of fugitives are expected to give themselves up as part of the program. Around 2,000 showed up for a safe surrender in Camden last year.
The program is being held at Bethany Baptist Church. Judges from Essex and Union counties will be a block away at the Priory, a restaurant, to handle cases one by one.
Fugitives can begin turning themselves in Wednesday.
