Police say a pack of thieves used a distract and snatch strategy to grab thousands of dollars in gold chains Wednesday in what they say is the second jewelry store heist in as many weeks.
Police say video surveillance cameras showed a couple entering Aaron?s Gold on Broadway pretending to be customers. According to police, as the two appeared to shop, two other suspects entered the store, blocked and then snatched jewelry from an unlocked case. The thieves snagged $15,000 in uninsured gold chains.
Aaron?s Gold owner Broadway Bernie says his manager was off and new employees had just finished cleaning the case. Aaron?s Gold has been a fixture on Broadway since 1953 and has been robbed five times. This time, Broadway Bernie says he?s just happy none of his sales people were hurt.
Police say are still investigating whether the two robberies are linked.
