Three fires have ravaged a North Brunswick apartment complex in less than 24 hours, leaving dozens of residents displaced from their homes.

First responders rushed to Building 16 of the Colony Oaks Apartment Complex just before 6 a.m. Sunday to tackle a multi-alarm fire. Multiple agencies from the area were summoned to combat the flames as they spread across multiple apartment units.

Crews performed an extensive overhaul as the fire started on the second floor at the back of the building, later extending through the roof.

'We did pull down the ceilings, we did pull down the roof. The roof did collapse, and then we were able to attack it from external and then we did another interior attack as well,' says North Brunswick Fire Chief Ken Graulich.

At least 30 people are displaced.

This incident follows another fire that broke out on Friday in a separate apartment building within the complex, displacing 20 people across nine families. Fire crews fought tirelessly for hours to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings.

Within a span of a few hours, there was a second fire at that building - sparked by a candle.

Officials say the first fire was sparked by a dryer.

At this time, crews don't seem to believe there is any correlation between the three.
