One teen is dead and another is hospitalized following a shooting in southern New Jersey, authorities say.

Pemberton Township police were called to the scene Monday night on Snow Avenue.

Authorities say officers found 17-year-old Malachi Treherne lying in a doorway of the residence where he was staying. He was pronounced dead.

Police say a 17-year-old female was shot in the chest. She is in stable condition at a hospital. Her name has not been released.

Authorities say preliminary indications are the incident was not a random shooting.

No arrests have been made.
