Taped conversations were played Tuesday in the murder trial of a New Jersey nurse.
Melanie McGuire is accused of drugging, fatally shooting and then sawing apart her husband?s body in 2004. William McGuire?s body was later found floating inside three suitcases in the Chesapeake Bay.
After the murder, the suspect?s friend Jim Finn agreed to secretly tape phone conversations with McGuire for police. Investigators gave Finn questions to ask McGuire and even gave him a story designed to get more information from the suspect.
The jury heard conversations about McGuire?s alleged affair with a doctor. They also heard McGuire explain to Finn why she was in Atlantic City moving her husband?s car after he went missing. Prosecutors have said McGuire is seen on videotape planting the car in Atlantic City. McGuire claims in the taped conversation she moved the car out of spite because she thought her husband was having an affair.
