Atlantic City casinos are one step closer to smoke-free status after a Senate committee vote Monday.
Despite a statewide smoking ban, the Atlantic City Council had approved a deal with the state that still allows smoking on 25 percent of casino floors. Many casino workers say that deal isn?t fair and their health is still at risk. Casino owners did not show up for the Senate committee hearing that discussed closing that stipulation in the ban.
Committee members approved a bill expanding the state?s smoking ban to cover 100 percent of gaming floors. The bill will now head to the full Senate for a vote.
