The Asbury Lanes is expected to open this Friday and on display will be more than half a century of memories, combined with a two-plus year renovation.
The bowling alley shut its doors back in 2015, and there was much speculation on what the new Asbury Lanes would look like.
The vintage-style bowling alley, diner, and live music hall will open this Friday, after originally scheduled to open Memorial Day Weekend.
The developer kept some of the original interior, the old lanes are now part of the dance floor, and there's a new state-of-the-art sound system.
iStar teamed with music promoters Bowery Presents for the concert lineup throughout the summer, holding tradition of mixing local bands with nationally known talent at the lanes.
“I think we want people to come in here and keep the spirit of the city and that's why we work so hard to preserve Asbury Lanes,” says Brian Cheripka, Senior VP of iStar development. “It's very easy to come but if you can take the time two and put in the effort and then you can keep what's best and then keep the heart of the city."
The diner attached to the lanes will eventually stay open in season 24/7.
