Amazon, Goya make charitable donations in New Jersey
Two large companies with ties to New Jersey made sizable donations to charity Wednesday.
Amazon, which recently opened a fulfillment center in Edison, announced that it will donate $5,000 to five different charitable organizations.
The company recently donated Kindles to the Edison Library in support of childhood literacy.
Amazon officials say that it is part of the company’s mission to give back to the communities where they have offices.
Jersey City-based Goya Food Inc. donated $10,000 to the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark.
The food company is also fulfilling its commitment to giving the charities 120,000 pounds of food.
Goya CEO Robert Unanue says that giving back is a year-round job.
“We have this commitment throughout the full year because the need is constant,” he says. “It makes us feel fantastic to be able to give back."
This is the second year that Goya has donated to the Catholic Charities of Newark.
