A teacher at Kearny High School came under scrutiny Wednesday as a student went public with secretly recorded class lectures in which the teacher allegedly preached religion to students.Matthew LaClair felt that his teacher?s repeated lectures on like God, Jesus, salvation and Hell had no place in history class. Using a digital recorder hidden in his pockets or his backpack, LaClair began keeping a log of David Paszkiewicz?s alleged preaching about his religious beliefs. After presenting the tapes to school officials and making them public, Paszkiewicz, who is also a Baptist minister, has since become a subject of controversy in the public high school.Administrators now have a copy of LaClair's recordings and are investigating the situation. Superintendent of Kearny Schools Robert Mooney says if it is determined that Paszkiewicz crossed the line, there will be consequences. In the meantime, Mr. Paszkiewicz is still teaching as scheduled.
