? Three New Jersey bank robbery suspects, connected to the deadly friendly-fire shooting of an FBI agent, were ordered held without bail Monday.
Twenty-eight-year-old Wilfredo Berrios, 21-year-old Michael Cruz and 22-year-old Francisco Herrera-Genao are suspected in a string of bank robberies throughout New Jersey. Acting on a tip that the men were planning a heist, a special FBI task force followed them to a PNC Bank in Readington Thursday. Authorities say as agents confronted the trio, FBI Special Agent Barry Lee Bush was apparently shot and killed by a fellow agent. Herrera-Genao initially escaped capture, sparking a massive manhunt. He was later captured in a motel parking lot.
The three suspects have been charged with attempted armed bank robbery and other weapons charges. If convicted on all charges, they could each face up to 140 years in prison.
A fourth person accused of being part of the bank robbery ring, Efrain Lynn, 21, also appeared in court Monday for his suspected role in a March 16 armed robbery. He was also held without bail and has been charged separately with armed bank robbery.
Meanwhile, the FBI has said it appears Bush was shot when another agent?s weapon discharged accidentally. Bush will be buried Thursday in Pennsylvania.
