Most people have been told that eating too much junk food can lead to health issues, but some may not know how bad it could get.
A new case report reveals that a 17-year-old British boy went blind after years of only eating French fries, cold cuts, white bread and potato chips.
“When somebody’s not eating the right food, the body can’t flourish,” says health expert Evan Chait, owner of Kinetic Physical Therapy.
According to the report, the teen had a normal height and weight, but due to a lack of essential vitamins and minerals the teen developed nutritional optic neuropathy.
"We're eating processed foods. We're not getting adequate fat and good quality fat we need in our diet,” Chait says.
While the teen’s condition may be extreme, experts say that a bad diet can lead to a host of health problems.
"Chronic pain, digestive issues. We see irritability, infertility, inability to sleep, migraines, headaches, neck pain, you name it,” Chait says.
