A fourth teenager has been arrested in connected with the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Leandro Mendoza outside Lexington Liquors in Clifton.
The 17-year-old suspect was arrested Thursday by the Clifton Police Department and Passaic County Prosecutor's Office. The teen, whose name has not been released due to his age, is charged with murder, armed robbery and weapons offenses.
Two other 17-year-olds and 18-year-old Owen Soltis were arrested earlier this week. Investigators say that Mendoza and another employee were closing up the Lexington Avenue shop last Friday when they were approached by the group who opened fire on them.
Mendoza was fatally wounded, while the other employee sustained minor injuries.
Mendoza's family says he didn't know the suspects. They describe him as a hard worker who stayed out of trouble and was always smiling. He was an aspiring rapper.
Soltis was arraigned Thursday. Prosecutors described him as the "lookout" during the robbery.
The 17-year-old who was arrested Thursday faced a judge Friday morning.
