A Brooklyn mother is speaking out after her 4-year-old son was fatally struck in a hit-and-run in Brownsville. It happened around 11 a.m. Thursday outside Brookdale Hospital near Rockaway Parkway and Linden Boulevard. Police identified the victim as 4-year-old Zachariah Padilla. The boy’s mother, Harmonie Wright, said she was going to the hospital to pick up paperwork. One witness told News 12 that the child got away from his mother and ran into the street, where he was hit by a white SUV. Investigators say the driver did not stop. The child was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. “[The driver] hit [the child]. I banged on his car, he ran over him,” Wright said. “Then I got hit. We’re going to get justice because love will win before hate!” Investigators said Friday that the driver of the white SUV had the green light while the child was crossing the street. Police are still looking for that driver.
