Possible human skeletal remains found in Cape May county woods

Officials said a county resident reported finding what appeared to be a human skull Tuesday while walking in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township.

Authorities are investigating after skeletal remains believed to be those of an adult were discovered in a wooded area of Middle Township, prosecutors said.

Officials said a county resident reported finding what appeared to be a human skull Tuesday while walking in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township.

The discovery was promptly reported to the Middle Township Police Department.

Investigators from several agencies conducted a coordinated search of the surrounding area.

During the search, authorities located and recovered additional skeletal remains believed to be those of an adult. Officials said a positive identification has not yet been made.

The Cape May County prosecutor said the investigation is ongoing and there is no threat to the public at this time.
